February 10th 2020 was day one of my keto diet /lifestyle change. I've been back and forth for years trying to lose weight and I just couldn't get it moving. I've tried Juicing, that was hard at first but then certain combinations can really get you excited. ( pineapple kale and watermelon hmmm....) I've tried low carb diets which was even harder for my will power to handle because how can you have some types but not all, a little but still not too much and my favorite to hear is " you can eat it but just in the mornings not the evenings".
I tried Herbalife and though tasty and nourishing if you don't watch it you can end up bigger than you started. Herbalife is a health and wellness company meaning that the products can help you lose, gain or maintain weight depending on how you use them. I have total respect for the products and company but the up keep of the products , coaching and exercise groups can really be expensive. Plus the name ain't playing with the Heralife. Most people I know have been using the products for years its their way of life now . As I said total respect , it just didn't work for me.
I remember trying the injections which at the time I was convinced that this was the cure to my disease(obesity) , hallelujah !!! No pumpkin, no corn it was like baby food very strict with tiny portions and big dreams. I had followed everything to the last cross over the "T" and the dot over my "i" so imagine my despair when I stepped on the scale 4 weeks later and had gained 7 pounds after paying my hot $1800.00. There wasn't a shortage of curse words , it was the first time I was so fluent in speech.
Then I started to break ground a little, I read online about water fasting and got immediately excited about it then the article said if done incorrectly you could die, pump breaks whatt?
So although I was shook a little I decided to do something I had never thought to do before with any of my diets, proper research. I spent weeks reading articles, books, watching youtube videos and finally I asked a doctor and she said it was possible to water fast and heal the body. All this research is what led to my autophagy discovery.
Water fasting/ intermittent fasting puts the body into autophagy which recycles your old cells into new cells. Autophagy basically means to eat thy self, the body eats it old cells and produces new cells. I believe when you are fasting loose skin is not as present as it would be on a low carb diet especially if your losing huge amounts of weight , this is not to say there won't be any loose skin just not as much. From water fasting I learned about intermittent fasting and "ketosis". Ketosis is when the body does not have enough glucose for energy, it burns stored fats instead . Combined with intermittent fasting the keto diet can be very effective. I tried water fasting last year for 8 days and lost 11 pounds it was crazy but after a while I just wanted food, it wasn't that my body was craving it but my mind that was telling me to eat. Now I think my mind is set I'm ready to get this weight off my shoulders.
This is why I'm starting this plan though it won't be easy because I also have to cook for my boyfriend which I live with so there's no shortage of temptation. Here I'll share with you what I'll be preparing for for my keto diet and how I'll find affordable and creative ways to cook for me and my thin man . Recipes recipes recipes you'll see my keto vs the thin man dishes and if you hover over this page in the menu my "weigh in" page will appear below. There you'll see pics and the numbers of my beginning weight and my progress. (those post will be coming soon)
